The House
Every house has a beginning.
Ours begins with the name Goodall.
Goodall & Hall is a contemporary house of tailoring, shoemaking and denim. It draws on British tailoring tradition, on the patience of European workshops, and on the particular character of a city built in limestone.
The Goodall family name is the historical reference from which the house takes its name and its date of 1857. We make no claim to unbroken trade since then; the reference is one of lineage and intent rather than commerce.
What we do claim is a way of working. Clothes made personally, objects made properly, hospitality given generously — in that order, and without hurry.

Every commission is taken, cut and fitted for one person. Nothing is offered from a rail.

Cloth, leather, canvas and thread are chosen for how they will behave in ten years, not ten weeks.

Time, conversation and a chair in the cellar are part of the work, not an addition to it.
