Stone, mist and mill towns.

The northern landscape sets the temperature of this collection: low light, wet air, long walks and rooms warmed by fires. Clothes made for that climate are quiet by necessity — nothing decorative survives a Yorkshire winter.

Weight, first.

Worsteds with body, tweeds with texture, flannels that hold a crease and soften with wear. Cloth is chosen for how it behaves over years rather than how it photographs on the day it is cut.

Structure that lasts.

A defined shoulder, a clean chest, a slightly longer coat. Canvas, chalk and shears do the work. Proportion is settled at the fitting and rarely argued with afterwards.

Useful, not ornamental.

Deep pockets, working cuffs, storm collars, linings chosen for warmth rather than display. Buttons in horn. Everything on the garment has a reason to be there.

Country soles.

Heavier lasts, grained leathers and welted construction, made to be resoled rather than replaced — the footwear equivalent of the same argument the cloth makes.
